Michelle Steel’s 2020 victory over Rep. Harley Rouda in Orange County, CA was a gain for the effort to broaden Republican appeal. Born in South Korea and raised in Japan, Steel learned English as her third language after coming to America. Steel distinguished herself in elected state and local government posts prior to waging a successful RJC-backed campaign against J Street favorite Rouda. Recent redistricting puts Steel in the 45th district for this election cycle and CA-45 will be a critical 2022 battleground.

Mike Garcia beat CA State Senator Christy Smith twice in 2020, both times with RJC PAC’s support. A highly decorated Navy fighter pilot and a successful business executive, Garcia is the first Republican to flip a California House district ‘blue to red’ in more than 20 years. Recent redistricting puts Garcia in the 27th district for this election cycle. The DC Pelosi Democrats’ just-released target list takes aim at CA-27 as a part of their plan for keeping Pelosi in charge – making it a must-win for the GOP.

Derrick Van Orden enlisted as a Navy Seal right out of high school. Since retiring after a 26-year military career, he’s written a book, starred in a movie, and started a successful small business. He nearly knocked off a 24-year Democratic incumbent in 2020. Now he’s back to reclaim this open seat in southwestern Wisconsin for the GOP for the first time in a generation.

West Point graduate Wesley Hunt served for eight years as an Army pilot. He was deployed twice to Saudi Arabia and completed a combat deployment to Iraq. Subsequently, he returned to his hometown of Houston, where he worked in the real estate and construction industries and became active in community service. Hunt has vowed to make border security, national security and government reform top priorities if elected. He describes himself as a constitutional conservative and is committed to building bridges between the GOP and black voters.

In 2020, Monica De La Cruz nearly pulled off an upset for the ages, falling just 3% short of beating a Democrat incumbent who political professionals in both parties assumed was safe. After she announced that she would seek a rematch, the Democratic Congressman fled to a different district. Now De La Cruz is poised to flip the seat and become the first Hispanic woman to represent Texas as a Republican. Her victory will be yet another sign that more and more Hispanics in Texas’s Rio Grande Valley are leaving behind their traditional affiliation with the Democratic Party and joining the GOP.

Before entering politics, Brian Fitzpatrick fought public-sector corruption and terrorism as an FBI agent. Now serving his third term representing Bucks County, Pennsylvania, he’s established a reputation as a common-sense conservative and a leader of the Problem Solvers Caucus. For pro-Israel advocates, Congressman Fitzpatrick is recognized as one of the most reliable allies in promoting the US-Israel alliance and standing up to Iran’s rogue regime.

RJC was proud to support Nicole Malliotakis in 2020 when she prevailed in an incredibly tough race and restored a GOP presence to New York City’s congressional delegation. She is off to a great start in Congress, as a leader supporting the U.S.-Israel alliance and UN reform on the Foreign Affairs committee. But the Democrats who drew New York’s new district maps specifically targeted her, adding new very liberal areas and turning a “red” district into a “blue” one. Fortunately, Congresswoman Malliotakis is not giving an inch and her reelection campaign is off to a great start.

Before he was elected to Congress in 2016, Don Bacon served in the Air Force for 30 years, winning numerous honors and attaining the rank of Brigadier General. He’s enhanced his national security credentials while in Congress as a leader on the Armed Services Committee and one of the most reliable and passionate pro-Israel voices in the Republican conference. Despite being a perennial Democrat target, he’s prevailed against well-funded challengers because his mainstream conservative views are a good fit for his Omaha-based district. RJC PAC has backed all of Don Bacon’s campaigns because he is an exemplary Congressman and we’re proud to do so again in 2022.

In this year’s redistricting process, the Democrats who dominate Maryland’s legislature set out to end the career of the state’s only Republican congressman, Andy Harris. But Congressman Harris has deep roots in this district, which includes the state’s Eastern Shore and Baltimore’s northern suburbs. Harris, whose parents came to America as refugees from Communist Eastern Europe, is a physician with a long record of service in the Naval reserves. He’s made it clear he’ll fight hard to deny power-hungry Annapolis Democrats the clean sweep they’re seeking.

David Valadao represents California’s agriculture-rich Central Valley and is himself a family farmer. His deep roots in the district have helped him win cross-over support in an area where Democrats significantly outnumber Republicans. But this year, Valadao is facing an even steeper challenge, as the Democrats who dominated California’s redistricting process have made his district even more “blue” and recruited a long-time state legislator to challenge him. But Congressman Valadao believes that as long as he has the resources to get his message out, the moderate voters of the 22nd district will prefer an effective common-sense conservative to a Nancy Pelosi rubber stamp.

Prior to winning election to Congress, David Schweikert served in the state legislature, built a successful business, and was treasurer for Maricopa County. Now serving his sixth term, Congressman Schweikert is a leader on fiscal issues as a member of the Ways and Means committee, where he played a key role in drafting the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. In his most recent campaign, he prevailed despite being outspent, but Democrats have vowed to target him again this year in his Phoenix-area district.

Congresswoman Nancy Mace is a true trailblazer – the first woman to graduate from the legendary Citadel military college in South Carolina. In her first term in Congress, she’s emerged quickly as a dedicated representative of the state’s Lowcountry – and a leading voice for conservatives. RJC was proud to back Congresswoman Mace in her first congressional campaign when she upset a well-funded Democrat and we’re 100% behind her effort to win a second term.
